  • Mike, a 32-year-old father of two who works as a software engineer
  • Emily, a 30-year-old mother of two who works as a nurse
  • Chris, a 28-year-old newlywed who works as a graphic designer
  • Olivia, a 27-year-old newlywed who works as a teacher

(Mike, Emily, Chris, and Olivia are sitting around a table during their lunch break at work.)

Chris: “I’ve been struggling lately with balancing my work and my personal life. Since getting married, I feel like I’ve been putting all my time and energy into my job and not enough into my marriage. How do you guys handle it?”

Mike: “It’s definitely a challenge, but I’ve found that being intentional with my time helps a lot. I try to set boundaries at work and prioritize my family when I’m at home. It’s not always easy, but it’s worth it.”

Emily: “I completely agree. I also make sure to communicate with my supervisors about my family priorities. They’ve been really understanding and supportive.”

Olivia: “That’s a good point. I think it’s important to be honest and upfront about our family obligations and to not feel guilty for putting our families first.”

Chris: “But what about keeping up with work excellence? I don’t want to sacrifice my job performance.”

Mike: “I hear you, but I think when we prioritize our families, it actually helps us to perform better at work. We come in with a refreshed mindset and renewed energy.”

Emily: “And don’t forget to take care of yourself too. When we neglect our own needs, it’s harder to excel in any area of life.”

Olivia: “I also think it’s helpful to set realistic goals and expectations for ourselves. We can’t do it all, and that’s okay.”

Chris: “Thanks, guys. I really appreciate your advice and encouragement. I know it’s not easy, but I’m committed to being both an excellent worker and an excellent husband.”

Mike: “You got this, Chris. We’re here to support you.”

Emily: “Absolutely. We’re all in this together.”

Olivia: “And we have God’s help too. He’s with us every step of the way.”

(They all nod in agreement and continue their lunch break, feeling encouraged and supported.)
