Biblical Foundations for Parenting

  • by

As Christian parents, we believe that God has a specific design for families and parenting, and that it is our responsibility to raise our children in a way that reflects His values and character.

At the heart of biblical parenting is the desire to pass on faith and values to our children. As we study the Bible, we see numerous examples of parents who sought to raise their children in the ways of the Lord. For instance, we see how Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob made it a priority to pass on their faith to their children. In Deuteronomy 6:6-7, God instructs parents to “impress these commandments on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Furthermore, the Bible provides us with a framework for family life and parenting. It teaches us about the importance of discipline, love, and respect within the family. For instance, in Ephesians 6:4, Paul instructs fathers to “bring [their] children up in the training and instruction of the Lord”.

As we embark on this parenting journey, let us remember that our ultimate goal is to raise children who love and serve God. By grounding ourselves in biblical principles and seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we can become the parents that God has called us to be.
